Abstract

In Sanggau Regency there are still dental and oral health problems, including Tayan Hilir District. Initial data were obtained through questionnaires on 42 children at MTs Negeri 03 Tayan about knowledge of brushing teeth, food consumption, and dental examinations. The results obtained, the average knowledge is good (54.8%) and moderate (45.2%). This study aims to describe and analyze the effect of the incidence of dental caries (DMF-T), dental and oral hygiene status (OHI-S) on the tooth brushing behavior of adolescent girls based living areas on the river coast or highlands in Tayan Hilir District, Sanggau Regency. The tool used is a cross-sectional questionnaire, Spearmand Kendall's Correlate test, and Regression, with univariate, bivariate, and multivariate analysis. The results of the study are that DMF-T, OHI-S are influenced by tooth brushing behavior by 57% with siq value. 0.000<0.05. Living areas on the coast of rivers or highlands affect DMF-T, OHI-S by 36.8%, age affects DMF-T, OHI-S by 10.7% and cariogenic food types affect DMF-T, OHI-S by 70 %. Overall, DMF-T, OHI-S, is influenced by tooth brushing behavior of adolescent girls based on living area on the river coast or highlands by 22.6% with siq value. 0.050.05. The conclusion is that DMF-T, OHI-S are strongly influenced by tooth brushing behavior based on where they live on the river coast or highlands.
